Terms and Conditions

The trips (hereinafter also referred to as "Slow Adventure(s)") featured on this website are operated by Slow Adventure Company Ltd (hereinafter also referred to as "we" or "us") a company registered in England and Wales with Company Number: 09269172.

By booking with Slow Adventure Company Ltd. you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.


Booking

We will confirm the availability of your Slow Adventure within 48 hours of receiving your completed online booking form. To guarantee your booking we will require a non-refundable deposit of 50% per person, which must be paid within 7 days of us confirming the availability of the trip.

You will receive an invoice for the remaining balance before the trip; this must be paid no later than 24 days prior to the start of your Slow Adventure.

If you book your Slow Adventure within 28 days of the start then you will be required to pay the full amount when we confirm the availability of the trip.

We reserve the right, for whatever reason, to return the deposit to you and refuse acceptance of your booking at any time.

If the balance of monies due is not paid within 24 days of the start of your Slow Adventure we will treat the booking as cancelled and retain the 50% deposit.

Payment

We accept payment from all major debit and credit cards or by online bank transfer. We do not accept cheques.

Itinerary

You will receive a basic itinerary for your Slow Adventure when your booking is confirmed and the deposit has been received. This will be followed by a personalised itinerary for your Slow Adventure two weeks before the start.

We put a lot of effort into making your Slow Adventure an enjoyable and memorable experience by personally researching and carefully planning every element. However, occasionally due to unforeseen circumstances we may have to alter an itinerary, but this will always be to the benefit of you and your Slow Adventure experience.

Cancellation

Deposits are non-refundable. Payment for your Slow Adventure is a vital part of the success of the Slow Adventure Company; it is a crucial element of the trip’s income as it contributes to the overall running and administration costs of each Slow Adventure.

Cancellation must be in writing via email to hello@slowadventure.co and will be subject to the following charges:

  • 28 days before the start of your Slow Adventure – 50% of total cost
  • Less than 28 days before the start of your Slow Adventure – 100% of total cost

Cancellation by Us

In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your trip you will be offered an alternative trip or a full refund on your booking.

However, in the event of cancellation we cannot accept responsibility for any consequential expenses that you may concur in connection with your trip.

Luggage Transfers

Slow Adventure Company Ltd. does not accept any liability for damage or loss to any item of luggage or its contents during transportation. It is your responsibility to ensure that your bags are safely packed and contain no valuables and/or fragile items such as laptops, tablets, cameras, mobile phones or glass. Your luggage and its contents must be protected by a suitable insurance policy.

Accommodation – Guest House

Accommodation is in ensuite double or twin rooms, unless stated otherwise. Where a single room is requested a single supplement will often apply. Where appropriate, you will be advised of this additional supplement and invoiced for the relevant amount.

Accommodation – Bothy

For your overnight stay in the bothy, Slow Adventure Company Ltd. will provide you with some equipment to make your stay more comfortable. A full inventory will be provided for this equipment when you arrive in the bothy; it is your responsibility to inform us, as soon as possible after arrival at the bothy, if anything is missing or broken. It is also your responsibility to ensure that everything is checked and packed away when you leave the bothy and the inventory signed.

We understand that breakages sometimes happen, but please ensure these are noted on the inventory before you leave.

We reserve the right to charge you for any missing or broken items from the inventory.

Meals

All our trips include breakfast every day. Dinner and lunch is included where specified on your final itinerary. You must advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

British Weather

We would love to be able to control the weather, but sadly we can’t. Our British weather is varied throughout the year and can be unpredictable therefore you must come prepared with suitable and appropriate clothing and footwear.

Fitness

There is a reason we are called the Slow Adventure Company, and that’s because we want you to leisurely enjoy your human-powered journey exploring the great outdoors. Our trips do not require specialist knowledge or very high levels of fitness. However, you should be able to walk up to 12 miles a day along undulating terrain and also be comfortable walking on back-to-back days. We outline approximate daily miles in your itinerary; therefore do look closely at these before booking. If you are in doubt about your physical ability, let us know so that we can advise you on the suitability of the selected trip.

Travel Insurance

You should protect yourself, your equipment and luggage with a suitable travel insurance policy. This insurance should also be arranged to cover non-refundable costs should you have to cancel your trip due to unforeseen personal circumstances.

Independent Travel Arrangement

We will not be responsible or liable for your actions or your safety for any independent travel you undertake before, during or after your trip.

Acceptance of Risk

In taking one of our trips, you agree to travel and participate at your own risk.

Our Liability

Slow Adventure Company Ltd. is covered by Public Liability Insurance.

Information Provided

Any information provided by us on such matters as climate, clothing, baggage, travel, accommodation, special equipment etc. is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of the Slow Adventure Company Ltd.

Newsletter

By booking a Slow Adventure and subsequently accepting our terms and conditions, you agree to receive our newsletter containing news, reviews and updates from the Slow Adventure Company. Our newsletter will be emailed periodically and we will not share your contact details with any third parties. You reserve the right to unsubscribe from our newsletter at any stage by contacting us or clicking the unsubscribe option in the newsletter.

Complaints and problems

In the unlikely event that you have any reason to complain or experience any problems during your Slow Adventure, you must contact us immediately and we will do our best to resolve the problem straight away. Should it not be possible to resolve your complaint immediately, you should write to us, giving full details, within 14 days of the end of your Slow Adventure. Complaints received after this date can be very difficult to investigate.

Jurisdiction

All matters arising from these booking conditions are governed by English Law and are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes for reasons beyond our control

We cannot accept liability or pay any compensation for any cancellation, amendment or alteration due to forces beyond control, including but not limited to war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity (actual or threatened), industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, outbreak of an epidemic or epizootic, bad weather and all other events which we could not, with all reasonable care, have foreseen or avoided.
